Admire the richest treasures of Mochica culture and get amazed at the Lord of Sipan tombs.

Discover  the northern coast of Peru an its iconc cities: Trujillo and Chiclayo. This region was the cradle of several highly skilled civilizations, who mastered the creation of marvellous jewels in precious metals, semiprecious stones and seashells.

We will visit impressive temples and archaeological sites that belonged to pre-Inca civilizations, you will be marveled at outstanding museums and will have the chance to enjoy the exquisite marine flavors of the Peruvian sea.

CULTURES OF THE NORTHERN PERU

Day 1 Flight to Trujillo

Upon arrival transfert to your selected hotel

You will then start the excursion to the Moche valley. You will .be greeted by a traditional family that descends from the ancient people who built the Sun and the Moon pyramids, the center of power in the northern coast of Peru during Moche times. Be impressed by the stunning set of mud-brick friezes on the walls of the Temple of the Moon excavated by archaeologists. Ending your tour, you will be able to appreciate several artifacts and tombs of the Mochica Culture at the on-site museum Huacas de Moche, which has a collection of various utensils and high artistic ceramics. 

Day 2 Chachan complex - route to Chiclayo

First, you will visit the archeological complex of Chan Chan. The city  had nearly 100,000 habitants who stubbornly resisted the expansion of the Inca Empire. Its archaeological remains are located at the northeast of Trujillo, are rather well preserved although built with mud bricks (“adobe”)

Transfer to Chiclayo city . Visit to El Brujo pyramid which rises about 98 feet above the surrounding desert and covers an area of roughly 330 by 330 feet. It was built with nearly ten of thousands of adobe bricks. Its walls are covered with polychrome reliefs that show war motifs, its goods, animals, plants, and other of its daily activities. Just some years ago, a well preserved tattooed mummy of a young woman, who belongs to the Moche Royalty, has been discovered deep inside El Brujo pyramid. She has been called “Señora de Cao” and she is exhibited in the Lady of Cao Museum.

 

Day 3 Tucume Pyramids and Pomac Forest

Morning visit to Bosque de Pomac, located 35 km north of Chhiclayo. This incredible place, a vast forest of algarrobo trees on the old grounds of the Batan Grande sugar cane hacienda, is dotted with dozens of ancient pyramids belonging to the Sican culture, descendants of the Moche.  Not to be confused with the similarly named archaeological site of Sipan.

Then visit to Túcume complex, an imposing 26 pyramids site of the Lambayeque culture.

Day 4 Sipan - Flight back

In the morning excursion to the magnificent mud-brick burial platform of Huaca Rajada where the world famous Tomb of the Lord of Sipan was discovered.  Admire fabulous gold artifacts, precious stones, and the ancient Moche civilization’s history. Afterward, visit the brand new Tumbas Reales Museum and discover the historical richness there. Finally, you will have a visit to Paseo Yotuque. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
