Many of the traditional games have been passed down generations in Colombia, with kids and adults enjoying more modern variations of the games their parents or even grandparents used to play.
TURMEQUÉ
Turmequé o Tejo is a unique game it has no comparision with any other game. It is the only colombian sport that is playedby 90% of the population. This sport/game origin goes back to 500 years, at the Muiscas time who habitated the Cundinamerca and Boyara departments.
The game involves throwing a heavy metal puck at a metal target set on a clay-filled box at a 45° angle. Part of the fun is the speed at which the puck travels the 55 feet between the launching spot and the round target laid with small amounts of gunpowder. Landing on the rim of the target makes an impressive but safe explosion on contact.
