GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES IN PERU

Day 1 : Arrival in Lima

  • Reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel.
  • Overnight at selected hotel.

Day 2: In Lima

  • Transfer to the local market where you will enjoy the colorful view. You will be accompanied by a local chef who will  give you information on the products and their uses. Then transfer to a restaurant where you will learn to cook local specialities and later taste your preparations 

Day 3: Lima / Cuzco / Sacred Valley

  • Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
  • Transfer from the airport to the hotel located in the Sacred Valley.
  • Lunch at Wayra Restaurant while you enjoy the paso horse exhibition.
  • Overnight at selected hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 4: Sacred Valley

  • Get to know the Sacred Valley and its secrets.
  • Stop at Racchi vantage point to admire the beautiful natural scenery.
  • Visit  Moray Terraces to see the enormous circular terraces that were used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory.
  • Then visit to Maras salt pans, which produce the finest salt in the world, used by great international chefs.
  • A delicious lunch will be served in a local restaurant.
  • After lunch you will continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most imposing building complexes of the Inca Empire and the site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors' rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields (cut into the hillsides), Ollantaytambo was an effective fortress as well as a religious centre. Finally, a visit to the village of Ollantaytambo, the only “living Inca town” and the best remaining example of Inca urban planning, with stone-paved streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th Century.

Day 5: Route to Macchu Pichu Sanctuary

  • Visit to a local Andean community, in the outskirts of Cusco, where you will be able to live ancient traditions preserved by locals
  • Visit families that live along in small single or double room houses, made out of adobe. at more than 3700 m. They raise guinea pigs, cattle and sheep.
  • You will be able to plow or harvest the soil, depending on the time of the year, appreciate a ceremony in honor of PAchamama "Mother Earth" and enjoy a traditional lunch cooked by the ladies of the community, with naturally cultivated ingredients from their crops-
  • Additionally, you will observe women spinning, wool dyeing with natural ingredients, and lastly tapestry knitting, according to the ancient their techniques.
  • Transfer to the station to take the train to Machu Picchu.
  • Overnight at selected hotel at Machu Picchu.

Day 6 : Macchu Picchu Citadel -Return to Cuzco

  • Bus ride to Machu Picchu citadel, one of the most renowned examples of the Inca’s architecture, surrounded by an amazing landscape of lush forest. Lost in history, Machu Picchu was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham, but was built in the middle of XV century. The name of the citadel comes from the Quechua language that means “Old Mountain” and apparently was the principal Inca’s Sanctuary. Then, you will enjoy a self-service lunch at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge.
  • At the scheduled time, train back to Cusco.

Day 7: CUZCO

  • Visit to the city, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Once the Spanish conquered Peru, the Dominican order built a lovely church over top this temple’s foundations: the church of Santo Domingo that is still there today. Your next destination is the Main Square, and then the adventure continues to the nearby ruins: the Sacsayhuaman Fortress built of enormous stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas, and Qenko, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay”, important religious and administrative centers for the Incas. Finally you will visit an art workshop named “Inkas Expression” that presents artists working on silver pieces and painting in wood. This is an ideal place for the ones who like andean art.
  • After the visit, transfer to the Museum of Pre-Hispanic Art (MAP), in the beautiful courtyard of a colonial mansion, for a lesson of the best examples of Andean cuisine. Afterwards, a delicious lunch or dinner in a sophisticated and agreeable atmosphere.

Day 8: Day at leisure in Cuzco

Day 9: Cuzco / Lima

At scheduled time flight back to Lima and transfer to hotel
